Do you ever get that feeling…the one where you just know it’s time for a major life change? I think for a lot of sisters it may happen after something traumatic like a breakup. For others, it may come after a period of perceived stagnation.
Some people react to this gut feeling by cutting all their hair off or getting a tattoo. Others may go back to school or quit their job and start their own cupcakery. The underlying theme though is change.
I’ve had the feeling for some time now and it’s evident in some of my previous posts, like On a Mission. But I haven’t been sure how to act on this feeling. I don’t plan on cutting off my hair or getting a tattoo (well…at least not anytime soon). I love to bake, but let’s be honest – I won’t be opening my own multi-million dollar pastry business this year. What to do…what to do.
The other night, I sat alone and thought about my life. I said a tearful prayer to God for an answer and then it came to me….vision board! I need to put the law of attraction into practice; map out my wants, my needs, my passions and my vision for the future. I immediately started bringing out all my old magazines, found a pair of scissors and started cutting out words and images that resonated with me. It’s a work in progress but I invite you to come along on the journey.
Here’s what you need to do start your own vision board:
1. Compile your pictures. Use old magazines, newspapers, search online and print them off. Don’t be selective here – go with your gut and what elicits a strong (positive) emotional reaction. Who knows…God may have something awesome planned for you that you never even dreamed of. You can use words as well.
2. Sort and trim your pictures…pick the best ones that resonate the most with you.
3. Glue your pictures to a piece of foam or poster board.
4. Place the board somewhere strategic. There’s no use in making a vision board and throwing it in the closet where you can’t see it. The more you look at it, the more positive emotions you will feel and the more likely the law of attraction will take effect.
5. Update it as necessary. “The only thing constant in the world is change.” So when your dreams/visions/goals change…change your board.
When you’re finished making your board and if you feel comfortable, upload a picture to our site or send it to us in an email at sistersonajourney@gmail.com . Other sisters may find your vision inspiring, some may have similar goals or we may be able to see a theme that you can’t see. Jessica and I will pray for you along your visionary journey and hope that doors will begin to open and the future will become much clearer!
