One of the best memories I have from my childhood is sitting in the kitchen and helping (watching) my mom bake. She is an aaaaamazing baker, and was always baking cakes, zucchini bread, chocolate chip cookies, and our favorite, whoopie pies. Everything was always homemade and made from scratch. I loved watching the oven in anticipation for the goodies that were to come while the delicious aroma filled the house.
I find myself baking a lot more now. The time in the kitchen by myself or with others is relaxing. Its a time to not focus on school or drama, but a time to focus on creating something warm, satisfying and beneficial to the soul. So, while my nephew was napping, my sister and I baked! It was a nice bonding experience, and a time of de-stress that we both needed. We made whoopie pies, although not homemade (sorry, Mom!).. here's our beautiful masterpieces!
We made them a little too big... |

He woke up just as they were coming out the oven! |
Although this is counterproductive to a healthy life, it sure makes for a happy one!
What is a way you all have been de-stressing lately?
Love those! wanna eat them right now! :)
