Saving $...one coupon at a time.

Posted By: Ashley

Wow, so its been a few weeks. What have you all been up to? I've been busy with work and motherhood, mainly. Jessica started a new chapter in her life and is attending grad school! Life can get so hectic that sometimes, we forget to write it all down.

In my very limited free time, I've started couponing. I've always been amazed at the stories of people who go to the grocery store and buy $100 worth of groceries but only spend $3. Okay, maybe that's exaggerating a little...but only a little. There is an art-form to couponing and I haven't mastered it yet. In fact, I don't even understand all the lingo. I've been reading coupon and freebie blogs and following people on Facebook to try to jump on the bandwagon. I cut out coupons left and right and usually they're for things I wouldn't normally buy on my semimonthly trip to the grocery store. However, I'm learning that it's about stacking up and stocking up. First, I need to learn how to stack my coupons - that means, use more than one coupon for the same item so you get double the discount. People scour coupon sources in order to stack coupons and as a result, they end up literally only paying pennies. I don't have time for that scouring...but I do have a few minutes a day to read the blogs and let other people do the work! Second - when you find an item at an amazing price - stock up so you don't have to worry about buying that item for awhile. I feel like I've found a whole new world! If you don't get a Sunday paper, and even if you do, check out coupons.com for coupons you can print!

Do you coupon? How do you save money at the grocery store?

Random sidenote: 1 more week until Jessica and I start training for our 8k in November!
