Easter Reflections

Posted By: Ashley

I grew up in the church and have always celebrated Easter. Yet, I still get emotional thinking about the crucifixion and the fact that I have a God who is true to His word and so powerful that He can die and rise again! I sing in the choir at church, it's been a tremendous outlet for me over the last few months. I was so emotional during our Easter service that I literally had to just mouth the words at one point because I couldn't get anything out. God is just so good and I'm so happy to know Him.

For me, Easter is also a time of new beginnings; an opportunity to start over and start fresh. My Pastor, Lance D. Watson preached an awesome word about faith versus fear. It's definitely time for me to stop letting fear rule my life and allow faith to take over.

He said that when we allow FEAR to rule us:
1. We rely on what we see, not on what God says.
2. We exaggerate the problem.
3. We're pessimistic about the future and preoccupied with the past.

But when we allow FAITH to rule us:
1. We rely on what God says and not on what we see.
2. We understate the problem and exaggerate the power of God.
3. We're preoccupied with the future and pessimistic about the past.

It's time for me to focus on the future because God has already chosen me. If I change my OUTLOOK I change my OUTCOME. Good stuff.

I try to teach my son about the true meanings of the holidays we celebrate. But I also enjoy a good Easter basket and egg hunt. Isn't he adorable?

  1. I celebrated my Easter with my husband and a new friend. We attended Hillsong church, had a great lunch, went sight seeing in London, and had a relaxing night. The day was great buy church was amazing! I needed a reminder that God can work through any circumstance and that's exactly what I got. Monique

  2. That was very inspiring what u said in this blog. I had a decent Easter. However it would of been better had I attended church. I Dont go to church that often im ashamed to say so i didnt want to go just because it was Easter as so many people do. I spent my Easter with my boyfriend and his children. We had an Easter egg hunt for the children and just visited with his family. I can say that even though I dont go as often as I should.....I am truly blessed.

  3. Thanks for sharing ladies. Cousin, the relationship you have with God is way more important than the practice of going to church. We ARE the church. However, I believe that going to church is vital for fellowship and growth. It keeps me grounded and connected to the body of Christ. I pray that God continue to bless you, I definitely see the joy He's put back into your life and I'm happy for you!! - Ashley
